I often say that your lamps can be the jewelry of your room, but on occasion the shade can do the job on its own. From mixing a busy fun shade on a basic base, to a funky hanging pendant statement piece, to the DIY shade project that tells a story about you, lamps shades can change the look of not only your lamp, but possibly your whole room.
Our first example comes from the Etsy shop, LampShadeDesigns. We love Dana's custom made shades found on her Etsy shop and thought it could pair well with our Marilyn Ivory on Brass Cordless Lamp in the 16" diameter x 12" tall size. But the best part about her Etsy site, is you can send in your favorite designer fabric and Dana will make you a custom shade from it! The possibilities are endless!
Sometimes just skipping the "shade" part all together makes the difference. We love the mix of metallic and industrial look in the Riveted Lamp Shade from World Market. It's both dramatic in style and in function as you can use it on your table lamp, floor lamp, or hanging as a pendent. We think an old school Edison filament bulb is the way to go with this one;)
Check out this limited edition animal print shade from Ballard Designs. This subtle black on ivory animal print shade can update any simple lamp, instantly adding texture and whimsy to your space.
Love this hand painted shade by the UK company Voyage Maison. This water color shade can be used as a pendant or a table lamp shade and comes in multiple sizes. The unique design looks like stand alone art piece, simply stunning.
Finally we had a little fun with our Baluster Cordless Lamp using this too cute dog silhouette shade (cause we're dog lovers;) The shade is from Shades of Light and is 16" in diameter and is Tito and Witt approved;)
Thanks for listening,
